My Journey on Balloonerism
A Film Based On The Album By Mac Miller

I joined Balloonerism's production very early, as principal Visual Developer. I was hired to paint color keys based on the storyboard, in order to explore the universe and build a color script.
These color keys represent the first look of Balloonerism. I worked closely with Samuel Jerome Mason, the director, to put in images his ideas. But he let me a lot of liberty to imagine and bring my own vision on the rest of this world.
These images were meant to be used as references for every artist throughout the production. That is why you will find many differences with the final product, because the movie evolved as many of my ideas and concepts.
Visual Development

After Visual Development, I've continued on the project as principal Texture Artist. I've never did 3D before, but thanks to colleagues and videos, I learned the position within a week.
It was a good opportunity for me to follow my concepts from start to finish, and help the team when needed with new concepts and paint overs.
Note that the following images are screenshot from Substance Painter, proper renders will be done soon.

Animation
Before my end of mission, I asked Daniel Callaby, the animation director, if I could try to animate some shots on the movie. I come from 2D animation but never tried 3D animation, and I didn't have any idea how it worked.
So Daniel taught me the basics, and I was ready to go.

Balloonerism is my first experience in the animation industry.
Thanks to Samuel Jerome Mason and Daniel Callaby who blindly trusted me, I had the chance to prove my capacities of adaptation, learning and my proficiency in Visual Development.
I'm proud of this experience, of the entire team and the incredible result we've managed to reach.
I hope this project will open me new doors, and will stand as an example for trusting juniors.
Thank you for reading, and don't hesitate to share me your feedback !
